Sheltered Villas, three holiday homes in Karpathos, Greece, designed by local architecture firm A&M Architects. On a 12,000-square-metre site in Karpathos, the architects presented their exterior in the simplest possible way.
With a slope of 23%, the house emerges from the landscape in a linear layout parallel to the landscape, respecting the natural topography. The real relationship between interior and exterior makes the building blend in with its surroundings.
Part of the building is underground, and its geometry and materials return to their original state, able to blend in with the rough environment. The white, clean ribbon becomes the retaining wall, creating the only contrast between the artificial and the natural. The villa was designed in a simple geometric shape with large openings that make the views of the Aegean Sea the focal point of the trip.
