Rachel Gilbert brings a stylish design approach and contemporary design style with a focus on fine tailoring and craftsmanship. Esoteriko has designed a luxury boutique for Rachel Gilbert in Melbourne's Emporium shopping centre. The brand is in keeping with the brand's iconic spirit, borrowing from the fashion designer's use of tailoring and texture to subtly outline a fluid customer journey through soft material variations.
Upon entering, visitors are greeted with an artsy landscape, suspended in a soft, harmonized interior. The creamy, earthy hues create touch and warmth, while providing a chalky backdrop for Rachel Gilbert's seasonal patterns and hues. A two-tone paved stone floor defined the boundaries of the show, elegantly showcasing the designer's ready-to-wear, eveningwear and bridal collections.
The store's boundary walls gently undulate to guide the movement, while a range of modern inserts in amber and rouge resins pause and soften the moment. The Esoteriko embodies the resin's layering and transparency by dangling the top from the base and tapering the edges to emphasize the refraction of light. The sculptures are preserved as if they were relics, and valuable museum works can be viewed from any Angle.
The color palette deepens as one moves further into the store, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and seclusion. A sculptural lounge setting mimics the curvaceous form of the interior and encourages comfortable interaction within the store. In addition, a series of spacious changing rooms continue the store's narrative, complete with fleshish-colored renderings, backlit mirrors, linen drapes and custom steel fittings.
Esoteriko designs a dialogue between linear and sculptural forms throughout, referencing Rachel Gilbert's tailoring and pleated dress designs. A series of playful, ribbon-like forms creates an understated sense of decoration, expressed in the wavy edges of mirrors, clothing railings and table bases.
