Horitzo House, located in Costa Blanca, Spain, is an apartment of about 80 square meters, with only one large window, giving the space a broad view of the blue Mediterranean Sea. The core objective of the renovation was to improve the lighting problems of the original house and to create an open and transparent spatial perception in a typical 1970s housing pattern, adapted to the needs of modern lifestyles.

Goodbye2000's design strategy is to place two volumes in the original plan to accommodate the bathroom and guest bedroom respectively, which not only effectively organizes the space, but also maintains visual continuity. The area between the two is designed as a multi-purpose room that can be used as a walk-in closet, office or reading area, and can be flexibly converted into a regular bedroom as needed in the future.

The studio breaks down the cramped feeling of the original space, enhances the natural light, and maximizes the internal transparency of the apartment. The carefully adjusted layout allows sunlight to pour in from the Windows, projecting into the living room, kitchen and multi-purpose areas, as well as penetrating into every corner of the interior, allowing air to flow and create a fresh and comfortable home atmosphere.

Marc and Elena wanted an outdoor sea view from both the kitchen and the living room, so the space was reorganized so that the two main living areas were positioned towards a single window. The kitchen has an open plan design that seamlessly integrates with the living room, allowing cooking to naturally blend with daily life and sharing a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea.

As educators, Marc and Elena hope to have a quiet and practical living space, avoid cumbersome decoration, and return to the essence of life. Therefore, the designers use minimalist lines, warm materials and carefully designed storage system to ensure that the apartment is clean and orderly, without losing the temperature of home.

Optimized storage is one of the focuses of this renovation, and all storage Spaces have been carefully designed to meet daily needs while avoiding visual clutter. The combination of hidden storage and open display shelves makes the apartment achieve a balance between function and beauty, which not only makes the items orderly, but also highlights the aesthetic interest of the residents.

The subtle harmonization of light, material and spatial relationships gives Horitzo House a unique atmosphere at different times. In the morning, the sun shines through the Windows on the light wood floor, creating a warm home atmosphere; At dusk, light and shadow criss-cross the entire space, immersing it in a quiet poetry that allows occupants to enjoy a moment of peace in a fast-paced world.

From the initial conception to the final completion, the apartment has always revolved around Marc and Elena's lifestyle. It is the embodiment of a life concept, and every detail is responding to their beautiful yearning for life. The renovated apartment, like a perfect picture, depicts their daily life in the light and shadow of the Mediterranean Sea.
