Li Xin is China's first generation supermodel. After the transition, she is now the vice chairman of Christie's Asia Pacific region. On each of the wonderful summer weekends, Li Xin and her husband Lyor Cohen will spend the Japanese Zen and Swiss cottage style villas on Noyack Bay, Long Island. In their eyes, this sea-facing villa has the most beautiful sunset in the world.
The design of the house was inspired by two interesting travel experiences by Cohen. Once he learned about the local burning board in Japan, which explains why the facade of the house is black. “It burns like a natural sealant, and black is the most inconspicuous color in nature, and we want the house to disappear into the landscape,” Cohen said. The second inspiration was his trip to the snow train from St. Moritz in Zurich, where he found himself as if he was hypnotized by the scenery. "So I also want the warmth and comfort of a ski lodge."
They hired designer Marc Turkel from Leroy Street Studio in New York to help him with his ideas. When asked about his favorite room, Cohen's answer was outdoor. “We watch the sunset outdoors every day, the terrace is like a stage, we sit there waiting for the performance of nature.” For Li Xin, to build this home, present her and her husband’s true personality, condense their Heart and soul. “This is a very harmonious process of discovering each other.”
Talking about the feeling of living here, she said with emotion: "It reminds me of what is most important in life. Family is an indispensable part of life, let me know the balance between work and life. I take it every day. With a happy mood to work, art has been fully integrated into my life, let me have a brisk heart. It is a very lucky thing to be able to see one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world at home. I also often remind myself to be grateful for the luck and beauty around me. ”
