The surrounding woods and farmer’s fields inspired this family home set in a quiet country acreage north of Toronto. The clients, a professional couple with young children, wanted interiors to project a casual fashion forward aesthetic; modernity with hints of playfulness and rusticity.
Various hues of greens, yellows, soft blues and plum reflect the wild flowers, trees and grasses of the summer landscape, while injecting a youthful, family friendly vibe. Lovers of entertaining, the lower level is multi-purpose with dining for as many as thirty, complete with catering kitchen, a ‘rat-pack’ inspired bar decked-out in flag stone feature walls, and a laid-back ‘swank’ social lounge.
Simple, yet thoughtful details combine with mid-century and contemporary forms, distressed oak, walnut, marble, and porcelain to create a distinctive country haven.
