Decus Interiors

Decus Interiors celebrates beautiful design in all its manifestations. As purveyors of the original and unexpected, each Decus project is informed by a philosophy that interiors can significantly and positively impact our everyday lives. Their work seeks to constantly balance the exquisite and provocative, whimsical and classic, austere and colourful.

They believe that each design process is unique, and draws on all facets of la dolce vita – art, fashion, graphics and architecture – to design homes that inspire, nurture and challenge the status quo.

Alexandra’s international inflexion is grounded in an affinity with the Mid-Century Brazilian designers of European decent, who forged a new frontier challenging the modernist masters into a more human, organic and textural way of living.

Understanding the visceral power of form, balance and tension, Alexandra’s nuanced approach to her projects exquisitely evaluates refined curation, whimsical detailing and provocative combinations of finish.

Their award-winning team plays multiple roles in the design and execution of creative, considered homes. They offer a wealth of experience in design and decoration services, architecture, project management and procurement.

    • Cove Home

In the living area, a serene hue provides a friendly backdrop for curated artwork, furniture and objects, adds rich texture to each space, and a spacious wardrobe adds interest to the space.
    • Hill House

The living room opens onto a large balcony, providing ample space for the owner to dine and entertain while admiring and enjoying the microwavy water below.
    • Coastal Home

Rejecting the traditional aesthetic notions of the coastal abode, Coastal Home instead expresses the personality and storied art collection of its client. Decus Interiors combines elements from the existing heritage home through a contemporary lens to anchor the home’s past in the present.
    • Killcare House

Decus Interior intended the beachfront house to be as' un-beachlike 'as possible, while reflecting the magnificent coastal location and surrounding parks. To this end, they defined the intimate atmosphere of the family with a rich, dark color scheme.
    • North Bondi

Looking north from Dover Heights in Bondi, north of Sydney, Decus Interior has created a clean, minimalist home in muted tones that evokes calm sea views without competing with it.
    • Woollahra House

Since the client was keen to wear bold outfits that truly reflected her lively nature, Decus used this as a cue and then stimulated the team's natural response to arrive at a true consultative approach.
    • Home of Fashion Blogger Carmen Hamilton

The studio has crafted a high-resolution interior that responds to the client's unique aesthetic, with a highly customised solution that addresses internal balance, practicality, spatial awareness, with a bit of fun and textured charm.
