However, since the homeowners are a couple and only need a living room, dining room, and one bedroom, in addition to meeting the basic living requirements, they also hope to better enjoy the space and time. Moreover, there are two outdoor gardens in the front and back. They wish to be able to view the scenery and experience the natural atmosphere in every space.
Therefore, starting from Louis Kahn's understanding of light and combining it with the original building, we designed a comfortable space with architectural lines and embracing natural materials. In many spaces, we did not miss the opportunity to let the outdoor scenery and light project into the interior. As the sun rises and sets, the movement of light and shadow can be felt in any corner of the space, complementing the warm wood and cool travertine that breathe together.
On the right side of the entrance corridor, a fireplace-shaped structure is designed to hang the TV, while the left side leads to the outdoor garden. The fireplace-shaped structure has two entrances and exits, forming a circular circulation between the living room and the outdoor garden. The ceiling of the living room is designed in the shape of an airplane wing to conceal the beams, and the beveled shape is applied throughout the space.
The entire space mainly uses travertine and warm wood veneer as the main materials, with a touch of pink Bulgari to enhance the elegant atmosphere. The combination of different materials makes the space more dynamic.
