Aspekt Office has designed Work & Co's new Copenhagen Office, where employees can collaborate and accentuates the local atmosphere. A palette of materials that emphasize oak, soft neutral tones and soft textiles creates a distinctly calm and understated atmosphere throughout the place. Transparent walls and an overall ventilated space design promote an open environment and sense of community, supporting Work & Co's core values as a hands-on designer and developer. At the same time, in the current environment, space allows for social distancing when needed.
Work & Co works with brands like Ikea, Apple, Mercedes, Google and others and is known for its award-winning office Spaces. The company has always worked with local designers to ensure that the office space is a natural extension of its surroundings. When the company was expanding its operations at Bernstorffsgade in Copenhagen, Aspekt Office was tasked with incorporating Scandinavian aesthetics and expression.
Work&Co partner Dever Thomas said: "When working digitally, we often take inspiration from other forms of design - architecture, print, etc. That's why having a space we can look forward to and be inspired by is so important to getting our work done. Aspekt's background in interior design and industrial design also means that we can customize to suit our needs and space. We know Aspekt will care as much as we do about the details of the products we use every day."
The new office space is located in a century-old building in the heart of the Danish capital. Originally designed by Danish architect Arthur Wittmaack in 1916 as a headquarters for the Danish Internal Mission, ownership was later transferred to the city of Copenhagen. By using a network of lines to visually decorate the interior, Aspekt Office infuses an almost barbaric grid modernism into historic urban buildings. By choosing materials that make them soft and bring warmth and touch, Aspekt Office's Scandinavian feel blends freshness and comfort.
All the fixtures were designed by Aspekt Office, including a wall-mounted bookshelf and a built-in oak siding closet, a soundproof phone booth that provides privacy and contemplative space, and a six-metre-long custom table that serves as a hub for communal gatherings in the Office kitchen. The project also features sub-reform X Aspekt office kitchen production.
Shape and function are important factors in choosing furniture. With a preference for dominant geometric shapes, the furniture is simple for the eye to understand, which contributes to the simplicity and tranquility of the space. A mix of international and Scandinavian brands, while emphasizing the work and the company's global vision, also pays homage to the new location.
