A home in the village of Sagaponack, Suffolk, New York, designed by American design studio Bates Masi+Architects. The project is designed to overlook a coastal pond and the ocean beyond to celebrate the periodic rise in water levels. Instead of hiding flood control measures, the design USES them to embrace the duality of the wetland landscape, interweaving natural and architectural forms.
By creating a homogeneous relationship between architecture and nature, people are constantly reminded of where they live. Natural elements are invited into the home and are experienced in daily life, thus becoming part of daily life.
