Golden Design has designed Nine Yards, a Cafe restaurant in Melbourne, with an interior inspired by Australia's modern menu and drawing on the iconic colour and texture. In a street view of One of The most famous downtown suburbs of Victorian Melbourne, the designer has reimagined the original stables as a destination restaurant. Balancing traditional bones with organic energy through a warm and delicate atmosphere, this cafe offers both atmospheric and nutritious snacks.
The restrained interpretation of the landscape combines raw and natural materials with unexpected finishes. Louise Jones's customised printed "Australian" interior, paired with Tasmanian coloured oak veneer, creates a relaxed yet delicate hospitality, and bold prints create bright colours in the spacious space.
The palette drawn from native flora and topography has an inherent Australian feel, subtly evoking images of shrubs and the ocean. Tactile walls, for example, provide layered depth, with recycled wood cabinets paired with panels in eucalyptus. The tabletop is Tiento tile with a rusted earthy hue reminiscent of red desert dust, and floor-to-ceiling terracotta columns reverberate.
