Juliette Leperlier

ART Sculpture French 2024-07-17

Glass is a paradoxical material at the very basis of my research. My sculptures are designed to represent that flow of unstable material.

Juliette leperlier, a talented French artist, did not enter the world of glass by chance. His connection with this material has a strong family roots and a legacy of tradition. His great-grandfather, francois defchemont, pioneered the development of the technique of lost wax casting on glass. This passion for glass was passed on to his father, etienne leperlier, and his uncle, Antoine, who continued to research and experiment with this fascinating material in the midst of his art.

Despite having all the tools and knowledge at her disposal, juliette leperlier decided that it would not be the material that chose her, but that she would decide to master it. To this end, he studied applied arts in sculpture at ensaama (olivier DE serres in Paris) and then obtained a master's degree in fine arts at the Sorbonne. During this time, he had the opportunity to explore other techniques and materials, moving away from family inheritance and taking his creative process in a new direction.

Upon completing her studies, rather than "returning" to glass paste, juliette decided to embark on a new exploration of the material, challenging the limits of creation. In 2014, he took over his father's workshop and devoted himself entirely to his own artistic creation. Her talent and originality led her to become the winner of the regional prize of the ateliers d 'art DE France.

Juliette leperlier's work is based on a plastic investigation that develops through three main axes. The first is "photo-sculpture", a process in which he creates glass sculptures for the specific purpose of photographing them. This technique questions the materiality of glass, its relationship with light and the space around it. The second axis is "contact photo-sculpture", in which he USES glass paste sculptures to produce frames. This analogical technique of photography consists in placing the object directly on the photosensitive paper, so that the light prints the print of the material on the image.

The third axis of his plastic research is "photoprojections". In this case, juliette installs photographic images in the space, using the sculpture as a projection medium. This allows the projected image to be enhanced, creating a unique interaction between sculpture and photography. Juliette leperlier is an exceptional glass artist who has managed to take family tradition to new artistic heights. Its innovative approach and ability to explore the creative possibilities of glass are truly inspiring. His work continues to leave a significant mark on the world of contemporary art.
