Columbia Square is the site of the historic CBS broadcast facility, and in recent years major media players like Viacom – as well as companies like Neuehouse and Fender – have moved in. Newly added to this list is Hollywood Proper Residences – a property that boasts 200 luxury units – conceived especially for the throngs of musicians, producers, writers, directors and actors who head to Los Angeles each year to work on projects. Provide convenience for guests Living needs: Available furnished for stays of over 30 days and up to 11 months – and unfurnished for longer term stays – the addition marks the area’s return to being a hub of creativity in Los Angeles.
To create suitable environs, Proper tapped Los Angeles-based Kelly Wearstler Interior Design to conceptualise the interiors of the property’s residences and the four penthouses – which range from 2,172 to 2,582 sq ft – nestled at the intersection of Sunset and Gower.
Wearstler departed from her typical Hollywood Regency style and used Los Angeles as a starting point, taking inspiration from its warm weather and the area’s storied Hollywood history. The Hollywood Proper concept combines a sophisticated, neutral colour palette, richly burnished metals, custom wood flooring, fine wood cabinetry, and infusions from local artisans and artists, The suites feature contemporary furniture, art and sculpture, complemented by vintage pieces.
