Aman Galla Designed By Kerry Hill       Aman Galla sits inside the ancient walls of galle castle. Built in 1684, the resort is a historic building from the colonial era of the east India company. In 1863, several British businessmen co-founded the Oriental hotel, which became one of the earliest hotels in Asia. Ephraums A.R. bought the hotel in 1899 and renamed it new Oriental hotel, a name that lasted until 2002, when amanaman hotels group bought it. The Aman Galla hotel, which was fully renovated and named Aman Galla by Kerry Hill, reopened in 2005.

The auditorium has recreational seating and a cloister leading to a tree-lined front street. The large restaurant and bar with colonial atmosphere provide private space for guests. Antique tables and chairs, antique silverware and white linen tablecloths are full of nostalgic atmosphere, revealing traces of the years. The cloistered design, the open arched Windows keep the sun shining, and the place is always full at teatime time. There is a small library on the other side of the reception hall. Besides a variety of books, there is also a series of precious memorials from the archives of new Oriental hotel.
