Lee Sisan is a designer and artist based in Seoul, South Korea. He majored in interior design at Konkuk University to explore the relationship between nature, artifact and humans. and founded Studio LEESISAN in 2018, a design practice that makes a various objects such as furniture, lighting and sculpture.He identifies the essence of the material and make form of refined language. Together with activities as an independent artist, he also founded a Spatial design studio PRACTICE with a Architect in 2020 and show his work with multifaceted approaches to various fields such as architecture, interior, and exhibition design.

He mainly explores conflicting relationships such as past and present, nature and artificiality, primitiveness and modernity, and attempts to find contact points and coexist the points harmoniously in his work.He explores various materials such as stone, wood, leather,and iron across nature and cities, and intentionally reveals the individual uniqueness and purity of materials through various methods of experiments.This value continues in the process of constructing the form, completing the results in the form of refined language based on the functional objects.

The South Korean designer draws inspiration from natural objects to create their aluminium counterparts, thus producing chairs, stools and tables with a futuristic outlook.“I believe in the power of nature, such as mountains, trees, stones, and rivers, and bring them into my work. In addition, artefacts that contradict nature are another inspiration to me, and I pursue a way of working in which natural and artificial objects are harmoniously balanced,”expresses Sisan describing his artistic oeuvre and its primary source of innovation.
