Cloud Abode Healing-Boutique Homestay

Jinyun Mountain, towering over the Beibei District of Chongqing by the Jialing River's Wengtang Gorge, is a "syncline" mountain range formed by the "Yanshan Movement" 70 million years ago, anciently known as Bashan. The mountain is enshrouded in clouds that are neither fog nor smoke, nor mist, but a magnificent accumulation, full of ever-changing weather and scenery. The morning and evening clouds are a riot of colors, a splendid display. The ancients called it "Jinyun" because of its red hue with less white, hence the name Jinyun Mountain.

In the eastern Sichuan region of Chongqing, there lies an emerald valley encircled by the Jialing River, like the strings of an earthen harp, with Jinyun Mountain as one of the strings cut by the river. In the village of Bailin, nestled against this landscape, stands an ancient Badong-style residence—"Wang's Courtyard," which has been given new life and become the soul of the "Cloud Abode Healing Homestay," showcasing a blend of art and culture.

As the designer and manager of "Cloud Abode," Huang Huang, the founder of House of Heddy, perceives the noise and complexity of urban life, with people increasingly yearning for tranquility and peace, seeking solace for the soul.

Huang Huang has always advocated for a "five senses lifestyle" in the design field, conveying the concepts of beauty, nature, and purity; "tradition and modernity, local and international, old and new, they should coexist harmoniously, organically combined. Through elements like color, plants, and decorations, spaces and people are revitalized.

At the 'Cloud Abode Healing Homestay,' he skillfully integrates traditional architectural aesthetics with contemporary living needs, while also made an immersive overall environmental experience. "Even in the same natural scenery, one can experience a variety of life interests. We hope that every guest can deeply experience the local life, from accommodation to dining, to exploration, allowing the body and mind to wander freely in the village of Bailin."

The Cloud Abode Healing Homestay is tranquil and serene, with every breath like a roll in the clouds. The texture of the rammed earth walls leads people into this space, with elements like logs, vintage furniture, green plants, and lighting displayed one by one, satisfying modern people's pursuit of the integration of aesthetics and nature. "Each of the four rooms has its own characteristics, and we hope that guests can experience the power of tranquility in the space they like. Starting from human care and physical perception, each room is equipped with a ventilation system, air conditioning, and floor heating, effectively dealing with the hot summers and damp winters of the mountain city."

Time extends memories, and memories re-weave time; especially under the gloom of the pandemic, time and memories seem to solidify yet fleeting. Life breeds emotions, and emotions, in turn, nourish life. The birth of the "Cloud Pillar Healing Homestay" is not accidental; it is a product of the times and a "different living domain" shaped by Huang Huang for contemporary urban residents, for himself, and for society.

Embrace time, grasp time, healing is not about evasion or hiding but about exploring the inner self. This project aims to promote a new philosophy of healing life, integrating the century-old sediment of ancient dwellings with modern design language. Although architecture and design are silent, when you walk among them, what you see and touch seems to open a window of stories that travel through ancient and modern times.

"Stepping into the forest and climbing to the peak is not only a closeness to nature but also a dialogue with the inner self." Huang Huang firmly believes that the world is not divided but divided into many small areas, each of which may become a habit for individuals. "The significance of design renewal lies in breaking the routine, leading people to deeply appreciate the gift of time and find resonance in ancient objects."

In this southwestern hot land of Chongqing, the complete preservation of rammed earth walls is quite rare. It is not only a source of architectural creativity but also a carrier of historical memory. Perhaps we cannot fully restore a specific era, but the preservation of ancient buildings can provide modern urban residents with more reverie about time. Therefore, between the fields, in the embrace of the rammed earth walls, Huang Huang has constructed a space that combines a sense of fashion and modernity with the simplicity of nature, drawing essence from the local area, close to the true nature, and promoting healing and growth.

【Soil Coffee + Soil Kiln Bread】is a way Huang Huang leads people to explore the world from another perspective. The eye-catching rammed earth facade, the simple and unadorned "soil" character, is both unexpected and full of novelty. "Earth walls, wooden beams, tile roofs, these elements of rural natural old houses, exude a relaxing natural atmosphere; we create a coffee space here, also serving as a link between ancient and modern.

Savor the aroma of coffee in the countryside? Or feel the fragrance of the countryside in the aroma of coffee? This seemingly contradictory but reasonable existence is just like us standing on the earth, witnessing the sprouting of life from the rammed earth, we hope that through design, more people can discover those forgotten corners and their beauty, and we also hope that we can grow richer here."

This coffee space was originally a farmhouse where villagers raised poultry. Huang Huang retained the most primitive rammed earth walls of the building and spent more than five months meticulously transforming and renovating the rest. The addition of transparent tiles to the roof allows sunlight to pour in freely; customized doors and windows add magic to this small space; the introduction of genuine vintage furniture and other modern elements fully display the unique charm of "traditional and modern fusion."

The huge circular chandelier and the original brass texture floor lamp of FLOS not only enhance the atmospheric sense of the space but also increase the visual contrast. And the hand-built ancient kiln for baking bread also makes this new healing life aesthetic way more deeply experienced.

The first building of the 'Cloud Abode' homestay features four distinctively styled rooms, each designed by Huang Huang to offer a unique and natural healing living experience. Aged wood fragrance, the "Wood Whispers" room envelops guests in a rich, deep texture, creating a sense of steady warmth. The designer uses the interplay of light and dark wood shades to influence the guests' healing mood.

Surrounded by windows that frame the bamboo forest, the "Bamboo Shadow" room invites the tranquility of nature indoors, allowing the scenery to flow into every corner of the room. The babbling brook and bamboo forest provide a surround-sound natural ambiance, making it an ideal healing retreat for guests.

Scattered small windows on the walls resemble floating clouds within the room. The "Cloud Dwelling" room is a romantic encounter, with lightweight and soft furniture that feels as if one is floating among clouds. In the design details, Huang Huang has carefully selected Schneider switch panels, Vaillant fresh air systems and underfloor heating, and CR Art Coating to enhance overall comfort and quality.

The lakeside view is the largest room, yet the designer has not filled the space to the brim. The design leaves and gaps for light and shadow to penetrate, allowing guests to enjoy tea and ink painting, stealing a moment of leisure amidst a busy life.

The entire courtyard is divided into multiple distinctive functional areas, including a tea tasting area, dining area, coffee bar, and academic seminar room, among other multi-purpose living spaces. Huang Huang hopes that this environment will become a community that brings a healing lifestyle to visitors through a variety of sensory experiences. In addition, a range of customized activities such as handicraft workshops, farming experiences, outdoor exploration, and nature education courses are offered, enhancing the perception of the village culture.

Incorporating local culture, they provide spiritual healing activities like yoga, meditation, and sound bowl therapy, integrating these healing methods into nature. Through rural healing, not only is the individual healed, but the entire village is also rejuvenated.

After half a year of meticulous renovation, the entire farmhouse has been transformed, Not only has the exterior been thoroughly reinforced and renovated, The internal double-layer space has also undergone comprehensive transformation and decoration...This is a cozy double room on the first floor while retaining the original rammed earth wall, a touch of yellow is added, Inspired by the rapeseed flowers blooming in front of the door in spring...White + Yellow + Clay Color + Rammed Earth Wall.

There is also a room on the first floor that I personally prefer, with a clay color system. On the basis of retaining the rammed earth wall, chestnut color is added, inspired by the natural aroma of the soil in the countryside...White + Coffee Color + Chestnut Color + Rammed Earth Wall When night falls, the light diffuses softly through the bamboo woven lamps...

This is a unique private hot spring room.It was once an abandoned pigsty, which has been demolished and rebuilt by us providing guests with a brand-new hot spring experience. We have prepared Chinese medicine hot springs and specially invited traditional Chinese medicine experts to customize a variety of bath formulas...

Missing the feeling of sleeping under a mosquito net as a child. So I designed two rooms with linen mosquito nets on the second floor. The mosquito net appears particularly soft against the backdrop of the rammed earth wall...

This time, I also specially matched in the room. Hand-woven cattail fans, rattan bags, straw hats, etc.And various straw and bamboo utensils for guests to use...

Designer Huang Huang always pays attention to the harmonious unity of sensory experiences in space. At the "Cloud Abode Healing Homestay," he combines the charm of traditional architecture with the rhythm of modern life, and is committed to creating a comprehensive environmental experience. "Even under the same sky, one can experience diverse lifestyles.

We look forward to each visitor deeply experiencing the local life, from accommodation to dining, and then to traveling, allowing the body and mind to wander freely in the village of Bailin." The possibilities of life are infinite, and healing is just one part of it. Each step measures the humanistic and scenic, stepping into the context of history, searching for the moments that touch the heart, drawing strength, and then continuing to move forward, climbing one's own peak. This is Huang Huang's profound interpretation of the healing theme concept.
