Stephane Boens studied architecture in Ghent, Belgium, before moving to the United States to hone his skills at Rice University in Houston, where he was also taught by postmodernist architect James Stirling. After years of working in the United States, Stephane Boens dropped anchor in the beautiful district of Leestreek, which is home to many of the ornate manor houses he designed.
When it comes to architecture, Stephane Boens prefers a relaxed approach that combines both traditional and modern styles. He was personally attracted to both, but professionally inclined to choose the former. As such, it belongs to a strong ethnic architectural tradition that flourished in the 20th century, from northern France to the Netherlands. Regional architecture is Stephane Boens' inspiration. He recast these architectural elements into a new creation, mainly using traditional techniques.
