Susanna Bauer work with found natural objects. Leaves, stones, pieces of wood…ephemeral things, easily overlooked. And she use crochet; sometimes as embellishment, but mostly in a more unconventional way as a means of sculpture and construction.There is a fine balance in Susanna Bauer work between fragility and strength; careful not to crunch the dry leaves in the process, the Susanna Bauer purposefully cuts out some parts, rearranges them, and crochets them back together creating masterpieces that fit in the palm of your hand.
