Thai design studio Taste Space has designed a new restaurant, Mother, in the historic Talat Noi district. The studio created a space inspired by nature and these four elements. The design of Mother Restaurant is inspired by the concept of motherhood and Mother Nature and connects it to the concept of cooking -- Mother Nature provides natural ingredients to make food.
The project is located in a vibrant area with many local shops and a blend of Thai and Chinese cultures. Recently, it has attracted young entrepreneurs who have opened a number of innovative cafes and restaurants. The design of Mother Restaurant is reminiscent of four elements -- fire, air, earth and water. Four paintings were created behind the bar, each representing one of the four elements -- they really give the space a unique character.
Taste Space uses wood-concrete composite as the building's main material. It creates a worn but complex texture with warm, earthy colors. The open-plan kitchen, built mainly of black iron, contrasts with the rest of the space and makes the chef's area stand out. A beautiful curved staircase at the back of the restaurant allows customers to access the second floor. The tree root, which was found by the host's help, is the main decorative element of the space and embodies the concept of the restaurant.
