Cheshire Architects

Cheshire Architects is an Auckland, New Zealand-based architectural design firm founded in 2004 by founders Pip Cheshire and Nat Cheshire. Based in Auckland, they work closely with clients from all over the world. Regardless of the size of the project, regional and cultural differences, it has always been the firm's mission to work with clients to create and complete influential projects.

Cheshire Architects is not confined to a fixed style. Completed projects are involved in urban planning, commercial, residential, interior design, furniture, project management and product content. Taking the architecture itself as the entry point, the design and thinking are deeply involved in all aspects of the project to complete the complete architectural experience from large city to small furniture.

Cheshire Architects is comprised of designers from a variety of cultural backgrounds. The studio has a strong focus on the architecture and the firm's contemporary social responsibility and sustainability. In the decades of practice, the firm has accumulated a large number of consulting resources, elite friends in various industries, and partnerships with the government, which can be competent for various types of projects.

    Design Works

    • Hotel Britomart

      The Hotel Britomart is located in the heart of a nine-block heritage precinct in downtown Auckland called Britomart.
    • Northern Club

      Covered in ivy and set amongst the high-rise buildings of Auckland, the Northern Club has been a landmark since its completion in 1867.
    • The Clifftop House

      The original house is a lantern like staircase within a collection of stacked cubes tumbling down the cliff.
    • Fielding House

      The house is a glazed pavilion sitting in the dunescape above a coastal golf links.
    • Awaawaroa Bay House

      Three small buildings embodying different parts of that occupation, clustered around a loose sun drenched courtyard.
    • Hilltop House

      The hilltop lodge overlooks Wairoa and Te Puna Bays on the Purerua Peninsula in New Zealand’s Bay of Islands.
    • Cowes Bay House

      Cheshire Architects' clients came to them because they had built two charred cabins. Clients seek an escape from city life, a place to linger and live.
    • Vineyard House

      The Vineyard Residence at The Landing is a house made up of two simple forms straddling a stone landscape wall.Its tectonic and material strategy is drawn from the land, and pursues mass and organic warmth. 
    • The Folly House

      The Folly sits at the end of the clifftop garden overlooking inner Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto Island.
    • Eyrie House

      Eyrie comprises two houses near Kaiwaka. Each is barely larger than four sheets of plywood. They are made from wood, are off-grid and autonomous, their outsides burnt black.
