Yinjispace：We really appreciate your latest real estate project: 50 Scollard. Can you share with us its design philosophy?
Munge：50 Scollard is such an exquisite project; I feel so blessed to count this iconic Toronto landmark in our global portfolio. Inspired by the impeccably balanced architecture by Foster+Partners, I challenged myself and our teams to go beyond anything we had designed prior. I pushed us to create timeless interiors that not only integrated the building's architectural essence but deeply enhanced it through the thoughtful juxtaposition of emotive volumes and materials. I see 50 Scollard as an unforgettable journey with each space perfectly tailored to befit its residents' sophisticated lifestyle. In line with the crisp architecture, the units will be very modern yet elegant, warm and inviting featuring honest and authentic materials such as sumptuous marbles and soulful hardwood floors. Some of my favourite features - like the contemporary fireplace and double kitchen island both standard in most units, will give the owner a great sense of comfort while making their home equipped for all seasons entertainment.
Yinjispace：In this project, you work closely with Foster+Partners. What is the entire project cycle? There are rumors that it will become the first mansion in Toronto. What do you think is its biggest innovation?
Munge：Our hometown of Toronto is such a dynamic, vibrant and diverse city. It is incredibly rewarding to be contributing my design expertise to help shape this cultural hub into a global luxury destination. In the heart of most sought-after Yorkville, our interiors had to transcend typical layouts and standard finishes as to create the never-seen-before, to make 50 Scollard the iconic address we wanted it to be. And so, as we researched and analyzed all units coming on Toronto's high-end residential market, we elevated the design on all fronts to reach brand new standards of luxury. Featuring unobstructed views from East to West, we drew vastly open floorplans which, combined with the impressive floor-to-ceiling windows and light balconies, create a continuous dialogue between indoor and outdoor. It beautifully connects the residents to their beloved city and its ever- changing skyline. Uncompromised vision and innovation were also undeniable driving forces in the tendering process - we are bringing in, for example, ultra-luxe German-made Gaggenau appliances. Italian kitchens Dada are used for the very first time in a Toronto condominium alongside Molteni for all custom closets, infusing our interiors with exceptional European craftsmanship and sophistication.
Yinjispace：What is the current progress of this project? When will you finally meet with us？
Munge：We opened the luxurious presentation gallery two years ago featuring immersive vignettes, exquisite materiality and impeccable craftsmanship. While the developer has yet to release completion dates, the project is in its early construction phase.
Yinjispace：What do you expect from the 50 Scollard after its completion? What kind of lifestyle do you think it represents? Can you briefly describe the best life for us?
Munge：There is simply no better location in Toronto - with walking access to upscale Bloor Street and Yorkville, offering the highest accessibility to all modern conveniences - from top designer boutiques to the best fine-dining restaurants, renown art galleries and more. The amenities and services provided will also be extraordinarily curated. It includes private elevators, a lavish indoor/outdoor pool, a luxurious lounge with fireplace adjacent to dry sauna, steam room, and treatment room, a private dining area, a curated wine cellar, 24-hour valet, concierge and porter services, a pet spa and car wash facilities. When it comes to the sense of home and belonging, 50 Scollard will not be just another condo; it is a community of kindred spirits embodying the most exclusive boutique luxury living.
Yinjispace：What elements do you think a top-level real estate needs to have? Or, what is top?
Munge：Beyond technical expertise, I think the best developments always stem from a profound love for humanity and a genuine desire to bring value to society while also making sense from a business perspective. Greatness arises from a collaborative effort to create unique and authentic human experiences. In this wild world, my team and I could not have found better partners than Lanterra Developments and Foster+Partners to explore together the infinite possibilities that design has to offer. I cherish the time we have spent together and look forward to the next design challenge.
