Drake Anderson is a New York-based interior design studio founded by award-winning designers Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson. Yinji：Regarding the design of the luxury house, can you share its design concept for us.
Drake Anderson：When designing the model apartment of One57, Drake/Anderson was asked for something that would appeal to a broad array of prospective buyers, something gender neutral. They welcomed color but didn’t want to be overwhelmed by it. The design is, naturally, all about the views. The foyer introduces you to the tone of the apartment with all of the round shapes, giving off almost a celestial experience of planets and meteor showers. The cosmic theme is carried throughout the apartment, in the luminous wall treatments, metallic details, lacquered woods, and shiny fabrics such as silk, velvet and satin.

Yinji：Your work is so elegant, how did you do it?  How long is your project cycle？
Drake Anderson：While the timeframe of each project varies, even the simplest of projects begin with inspiration and understanding of our clients' needs and style. As a designer it is important that we design our designer's style but at the end of the day, the clients' homes should reflect them.

Yinji：We have observed that you design a lot of luxury homes. What do you think of the future trend of luxury homes?  What are the elements of a good mansion?
Drake Anderson：Luxury is not about a specific fabric or material, and it doesn’t mean gold-plated faucets. It’s about what allows you to relax and enjoy, and what puts a smile on your face. It’s really about things that are created specifically for you, and to use an overused word, bespoke.

Yinji：How do you keep your passion for design so that every piece of your work is so exciting.
Drake Anderson：Inspiration is everywhere. We find great inspiration in going to art, design and antique fairs. Films, travel, fashion, magazines all contribute to fueling our spark to be creative.

Yinji：Do you have any projects under construction now?  Is it convenient for us to reveal your plan for this year?
Drake Anderson：Some of our most recent and current projects include the historic preservation of a London townhouse. A large estate in Malibu California. A full floor apartment at 56 Leonard, the new Herzog & De Meuron building. And a modernist glass house in upstate New York.
