JG Phoenix was established in 2008 and is engaged in various high-end professional space design agencies. We insist on exploring the space that conforms to the humanistic atmosphere of the East, so that people can not only feel the rational thinking of the West, but also experience the "intangible" space conforming to the nature of the East. Architecture, environment and people form a harmonious atmosphere, reflecting everyone's mind with "non-Chinese" materials, "invisible" expression and "silent", which makes people leave more space and dialogue with natural aesthetics.
Yinji: Young designers are bound to become the backbone of the future design force. How did you get the chance to start your design career? What do you want for your future?
Ye: I've always liked beautiful things and I'm curious about the unknown. In 2006, I got to know Mr. Liang Zhitian by chance and got a collection of his works. I was deeply inspired by design, especially the relationship between human and space and between human and nature, which made me determine the research direction of design. Now design has become a part of my life, my love for design, and for the future, I hope to keep the freshness of my first acquaintance with design forever. In my opinion, design also needs the understanding of "mature after birth". Every time we treat design, we should keep the enthusiasm of the first acquaintance. There is a kind of nature, which is the joy of the first acquaintance.。
Yinji: Shantou is your growth place and design base. How does the local culture of Chaoshan influence your design? How do you combine urban culture with interior design?
Ye: Shantou is located in the core of Chao Shan region. It is the core carrier of Chao Shan culture and Chao Shan science, especially the food culture enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad. Chao Shan attaches great importance to food culture and tea culture, and has its unique Chao Zhou cuisine faction and Kongfu tea tradition. Shantou people have always relied on the sea to eat, the four seasons of the year for fresh food has its unique stress, to fresh first, and eat by the season. I remember when I was a child, people would sit under the banyan tree after dinner, chatting and drinking tea, and the scene of living in harmony with nature is still in my memory. Living in nature, how to get along with nature has greatly touched me and deeply influenced my design path. The design should be more responsive to nature, and the refinement of natural and recycled materials is widely used in many of our restaurant projects. At the same time, we also hope to help more local brands based on local, look at the whole country, let more people understand Chao Shan culture.
Yinji: A designer's work is more or less related to his or her growing experience. It's like one of your works, "The Memory hall", which is closely related to the city where you grew up. How do you interpret this work with your own design language?
Ye: As a region rich in fish glue, Chao Shan has a strong atmosphere for collecting fish glue. The "Gallery of Remembrance" project is a collection of fish glue. The curator is an old fish glue collector with decades of experience. His collection is all old fish glue. In order to make the fish glue culture and its value can be better spread, we jointly built a cultural platform that can provide communication. I wanted the space to be silent to highlight the collection and to interpret the function of the space in the language of architecture. With gray tone as the main tone of the whole space, the golden color of old fish glue wrapped in pulp is substituted with the color with a sense of time, and the golden color is used to evoke the golden years. At the same time, we also found the old oak solid wood through the sawtooth treatment, so that the rich sense of age of the solid wood and we want to express the temperature and color of fish glue, and "old times" dialogue. I want to look at the "youth" of the old era through the expression of the works. Treat beautiful things with a calm heart, and perceive everything around with an attitude of "cherishing things".
Yinji: What are the most fundamental or primary elements of your natural design philosophy? Can you elaborate on your design philosophy?
Ye: We always insist on exploring the space in line with the Oriental cultural atmosphere, so that people can not only feel the western rational thinking, but also have the Oriental perceptual "intangible" space experience. "Natural aesthetics" is our design concept of advocating nature. We believe that people, architecture and environment form a harmonious aura together, and none of the three is indispensable. And the space that we build is the place that carries human feeling, its temperature needs the firework breath of human being. This is the gift of nature to us, it nourishes our emotions and produces beauty, so respect nature, take courtesy, can be inexhaustible.
Yinji: Noticing that you have also established a branch in Shenzhen, could you please talk about your future direction and plans?
Ye: For me, Shenzhen is also my second home. Many Chao Shan people gather here for hard work. I have been to Shenzhen all year round, and I am quite familiar with Shenzhen. I like its modernization and inclusiveness, and I have a unique memory of Shenzhen. JG Phoenix 's current projects have covered Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao and many cities at home and abroad. Shenzhen company was established to facilitate us to better connect projects and provide better services, and we also expect more excellent designers to become our partners. For the future, we are full of hope and expectation, we will continue to explore the space in line with the Oriental cultural atmosphere, and spread "natural aesthetics" to more people enjoying life.
