Nong Studio, founded in Shanghai in 2016 by Dr. Wang Changxing and Mr. Zhu Qinyue, has offices in Milan and New York. Nong Studio is a cross-boundary architectural space design firm, aiming to provide overall design services from urban space renewal, to high-end commercial space, residential space, soft furnishings and visual communication design. Nong, polysemous word, meaning "play", also can release as "lanes" as the special architectural form Shanghai, the company name to get design is because the founders are from Shanghai alley, then study in the west, different life and education background of Chinese and western formed two unique vision and aesthetic, at with a witty context of contemporary design interprets the Shanghai style culture spirit.

Yinji: Young designers are the mainstay of design in the circle. How did you start your design path? What do you want for your future?
Nong: Architectural space design has been my love since Childhood. I loved Lego when I was a child, especially the Collection of Lego Architecture series. All the tourist attractions where I clock in are master buildings. I check in various design hotels every day in order to feel the master's scale and details. The vision for the future is a platform to extend Chinese design to the world.。

Yinji: You have experience studying abroad or working in an office. How has this experience affected you? Do you have any advice for students who are about to enter college to study design?
Nong: First, study and work will be exposed to western culture, in the process of design is not just a language tool, but also expressed behind such design language habits and cultural awareness, and then slowly and their own accumulated habits and consciousness of Chinese culture fusion and form their own aesthetic habits, instead more enriched for the outer limits of the traditional aesthetic. The advice for college students is to waste a little more time enjoying yourself, and be good at work, but not necessarily bad at it. Don't be what other people think you are, but be what you want to be so you can design what you want to be.

Yinji: You named your studio "Nong Design". Can you give us an idea of what that means?
Nong: "Nong" polysemy, from Shanghai special housing style, the first order, second at the Shanghai dialect as the "play", named Nong Design is because the founders was born in Shanghai lanes, then study in the west, different life and education background of Chinese and western formed a unique vision and aesthetic, two people want to in the design of the humorous language is full of Shanghai style culture spirit.

Yinji: Nong Design is based in Shanghai and has branches in Milan and New York. What's your experience of multinational design projects?
Nong: Transnational design first colliders with cultural and commercial backgrounds, then with owners and partners. The former can spark in Chinese and Western aesthetics and cultural language, while the latter can spark in workflow and professionalism.

Yinji: In your many projects, you're not only a designer but also a photographer. You also love collecting. What do you think is the internal connection between design, photography and collection?
Nong: Like a cook, he can't cook a good meal without eating good food, so he must travel everywhere. He can't make beautiful food without aesthetic appreciation, so he must have an artistic opinion. The same is true of designers. Collecting, photographing, and designers are a cyclical process of absorbing and spitting. My hobbies are constantly supplementing and filling my world, otherwise I cannot express my world with design.
