Small Family Chapel
Here the immortal soul is sprinkled, the immortal power is buried, and the boundaries of life and death are fused.
People always celebrate the coming of life or have rituals to commemorate death, which capture the passage of life over time. Italian studio 120 Grammi Architecture built the small funeral chapel to emphasize this solemn atmosphere. The architects used low-key techniques and limited materials, such as alumina and concrete, to minimize any decorative equipment in order to emphasize the meaning and value of the expressive elements.
Time is measured by the distance between the new funeral chapel and the old cemetery, which is surrounded by cracks in the surrounding walls. The new funeral chapel faces the sky and branches planted outside the old cemetery. This connection to the natural environment provides another way to tell the passage of time, as the trees grow and change sequentially with the seasons.
