Ginger Gordon and Alexis Tingey founded their firm Alexis & Ginger in 2023.Based out of NYC their practice is one of research and material exploration from carved wooden forms and textured textiles to inlay and stained glass.Their objects are embedded with moments of the past, sharing stories through abstraction and composition of materials.Each piece is a keepsake, an ode to the silhouettes of architecture and the under-celebrated details of tapestry.
Tingey and Gordon debuted their first collection in April 2023 at New York City’s Colony gallery. Titled The Ode, the series of objects blends references from the pair’s ever-growing archive of imagery, which includes architectural drawings, scans of embroidery and tatting, black and white Surrealist photography,and images of Ancient Greek urns, often plucked from their visual research at the New York public library.
