Foam House indulges in nostalgia, seeking a return to playfulness and halcyon days. Rich and nurturing tones are balanced with moments of surprising colour in subtle dosages, in a deliberate intention to create deep escapism and carefree attitude.
The client brief for Foam House was to create an immersive holiday accommodation completely removed from everyday home life, with a distinct attitude, and to create the perfect backdrop to lazy weekends connecting with friends. The archetypal 80’s home, set the tone to transverse to sentimental memories and halcyon days.
Foam House explored colour to nurture and surprise guests, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and effervescence. Passe finishes informed the materials selections and FF+E procured through vintage sourcing balanced the project constraints. The brief demanded a compressed total project time frame of 9mths, a finite budget and a necessity for durability and endurance. The material & FFE selections were driven by resourcefulness to achieve the program, budget and commercial restraints, whilst preserving the atmospheric qualities developed in client briefing.
