Set in Melbourne’s bustling inner north, The Royal Oak breathes new life into a much-loved corner pub, first opened in 1871. Original glazed wall tiles inspired a tonal palette of russet, cream and honey tones, accentuated by original timber windows, ornamental cornicing and stained glass windows. A striking, linoleum-clad bar takes centre stage, its curved forms, brass detailing and bullnose timber edges harking back to the art deco era. Beyond, a cosy dining room is lined with fluted banquette seats and leather-topped tables, offering cosy alcoves to settle in for a meal.
