A private villa project in the El Toron Preserve on the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico, designed by local design studio Iua Ignacio Urquiza Arquitectos. El Toron Reserve is a 30-hectare protected area that is characterized by a mix of vegetation and rugged terrain, with steep cliffs and mountain tops creating hard-to-reach attractions and unique natural beauty. During the design process, the designers felt that they should first respect the site as much as possible, and then seek to understand and learn from the vernacular and contemporary architecture of the region, which represent years of accumulated wisdom and experience.
