Casa Niamey is a house of fun and comfort, quietly located in a desert-like environment. The exterior of the house is predominantly brick-red and white, jumping out of the sandy environment and yellow vegetation. Several cactuses in different forms add to the fun of the house, softening the already stiff architecture to blend in with nature.
The exterior courtyard serves as a space for intimate contact with nature and is connected with the sand. The area where the lounge chairs are located changes with the height of the sun as the shadow of the walls surrounding them changes throughout the day. Because of the change of shadow, it brings a feeling of openness and concealment. From the courtyard to the inside, the island in the kitchen is made of the same material as the ground floor of the courtyard, enhancing the continuity of the interior and exterior.
The style and tone of the interior of the house is a continuation of its facade. The combination of soft red and white, wooden furniture and furnishings, bring the atmosphere of the outside into the interior, natural and comfortable feeling filled the whole space. A small landscaped area with cactus, large rocks and a seating chair, sand and a triangular floor of the same material as the courtyard, all seem to respond to the external landscape of the house.
Rich texture was full of metope, let the metope of space had administrative levels, but not drab. The work table is illuminated by the sunlight flowing through the thin rectangular Windows, and warm colored lights are turned on to create a sense of atmosphere. Pass through the window of the bedroom, appreciate the scenery as desert, the trees stand tall in twos and twos on sandy soil, do not have a flavor.
han Arquitectos used a number of local materials to design Casa Niamey. By placing existing sand and vegetation in the interior, and connecting glass Windows to the landscape, the designer aims to blur the boundary between inside and outside, creating a feeling of living in nature.
