Blairgowrie House

Blairgowrie House set amongst the sand dunes adjacent to national park in Blairgowrie, on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula.

The house includes a carport, four bedrooms and an open plan kitchen, meals, living space, as well as a lounge/study.  Access is from the south, via a private road from where a discrete, private façade, with a cantilevered timber carport and entry canopy, opens to a light filled hall.  Vistas throughout the house to the garden and native vegetation ensures constant appreciation of the site context.

The central hub of the house is the kitchen meals area, which opens to a north facing deck.  Running the full length of the northern elevation the deck threshold leads to the outdoor dining loggia and pool via a series of large sweeping steps.  Maximising the undulating topography, steps connect the house to rolling lawns, while providing bench seating for large groups in the holiday season.

The interior palette includes white lining boards, light oak floors and timber joinery consistent with the modern coastal aesthetic.  Extensive full height glazing provides abundant light, softened when required by billowing white sheer curtains.
