Cream Chic is designed by the Korean design studio Labotory , is a minimalist orientalism restaurant. The studio studied the properties of friction that occur when viscosity represents a fluid trying to change shape. It attempts to express the physical contrast that CreamChic feels in the space. Through design language such as texture change and contrast, flexibility of form, direction and movement of light, the process of changing the character of the property is expressed in sections and facades in the space.
First, the contrast of materials expresses the spatial separation and texture of the senses. Second, the flexibility of form gives diversity to the gaze and sense of space through the expression of various forms and structures. Finally, the studio maximizes the sense of space through the movement of light.
Viewed from the central axis, the large table on the outer left and the ceiling structure and floor finishes on the outer right naturally break the client's inner and outer boundaries. In addition, the ceiling structure from outside to inside is used to emphasize the tightly connected spatial character of the interior. It shows how physical properties change around this axis. The process of changing from solid on the left to liquid and solid on the right is expressed through the unique properties of the finishing material.
In this space, Labotory wanted customers to feel the sequence of different Spaces in different directions. They also wanted to express the contrast, correspondence and coordination of the physical characteristics of cream fashion through the contrast formed between curves and straight lines, as well as the warm and clean space experience.
