The multi-generational families that inhabit these townhouses, together with a minimal design approach, redefines accepted notions of luxury within the urban context of Shanghai, China. Each townhome is a pure expression created to be a lasting home for generations; one that values quality and craftsmanship over ostentation. The environments prioritize natural light, the use of the highest quality finishes and refined construction detailing to express how essentialism redefines traditional perceptions of luxury.

Jing’an district is rooted in tradition and culture because of its namesake temple. Built over two-thousand years ago, it remains the physical and symbolic center of the community. As the city continues to densify and residences are built for a growing population, this development provides families with an alternative to the commonly-seen condominium typology offering traditional notions of luxury through ornamentation and additive decorative application within single-level residential units.

This development is comprised of two three-level residences, stacked on-top of one another accessed either on-foot through entrances at ground level, or by a dedicated elevator to underground private parking. These two fully furnished model suites were completed to present to future homeowners. They demonstrate the methods in which the interior layout supports the functions of modern multi-generational family life, while showcasing the materials, detailing and features provided throughout the one-hundred and eighty residential units available for sale.

Throughout the development, the interior material selections for the townhomes is reduced to the use of only three main materials; wood, marble and hand-trowelled plaster.
