Inaugurated in 1927, the Metropolitan Palace was designed by architect Björn Hedvall and is today a listed building with great cultural and historical value. The walls are adorned with Pompeian murals by the artist Nils Asplund. In 2017, the premises were taken over by the Stureplansgruppen, which in the same year commissioned Millimeter Architects to design new fixed and movable furnishings for the premises.
They were to be transformed into an Italian restaurant named L`Avventura, "The Adventure". The challenge for Millimeter Architects was to design a modern and functional interior with a design language that could speak for itself and at the same time interact with the surrounding murals. The result was an airy interior with furniture on delicate steel legs to give a sense of transparency. To capture the height of the room, two tall olive trees were placed in the centre of the salon.
