In February of early spring, the city and the plain are surrounded by the atmosphere of spring. However, Xiaojin County, only 200 kilometers away from Chengdu, is still cold and chill. The famous MT. Siguniang and the primitive forest in the gorge are still covered with thick snow, together with the mountain hiding behind the naive snow, showing peace, tranquility and auspiciousness. You can enjoy the biting cold and beautiful snow, free-range foals and the wisps of smoke from kitchen chimneys of Jiarong Tibetans...
Those who have driven here from Chengdu for more than three hours, with sudden intensifies of altitude sickness, are silent expect for muffled pants under the thick coats. Suddenly, a slight commotion breaks the gloom: “Here, here”, and the faces struggle to press against the window.
After the car moving along a snowy winding road, two white three-story buildings relying on each other at a certain angle enter the sight. They are connected by adjoining aisles, just like flowers in the snow, which connects to the earth stubbornly. At this time, warm orange lights revealing from the small windows bring warm and tenderness. The whole building features not only the traditional Tibetan style, but also concise and clear characteristics of modern architecture.
This is the Changping Valley of MT. Siguniang, which is known as “Eastern Alps”. And This is the only superb homestay open to the public in MT. Siguniang Scenic Area: “DAINN • MT. Siguniang”, which is the vacation home customized by Chengdu Wanqianji Design Co., Ltd. for the lover of snow mountain and MT. Siguniang!
A few years ago, the most annoying thing during the travel was, “Where will I stay tonight?” So we set our sights on a place called “Hotel”. However, the commercial hotels and “star hotels” all over the streets did make us full of regret, which is irrelevant to the price, but to the atmosphere, because in such a hotel, we are doomed to be lonely without kindred spirit!
Fortunately, hotel designers with an understanding of travelers are keenly aware that: due to the choice of life direction, increasingly affluent people have the psychological expectation that they are not satisfied with sight-seeing and novelty-hunting tourism. “Travel” that goes deep into nature and humanity and “pursues beauty for nature and life” has become their natural market parts. They need to integrate their life feeling into the travel and combine the lifestyle with traditional life characteristics and living together with strangers to form a mini and “run-into” circle, so as to socialize and mingle with others sharing similar insights. Therefore, living in the “homestay” becomes their first choice.
“DAINN • MT. Siguniang”, a superb homestay hidden in MT. Siguniang, has such characteristics and temperament of “gathering and parting”!
At that time, the investor thought of his travel experience in the Alps and the attitude of the developer. The scenery of MT. Siguniang in front of him was indeed somewhat similar to the Alps. Therefore, he and the designer poured the attitude and enthusiasm of developing the Alps by foreign countries into the project of “DAINN • MT. Siguniang”. Considering the size of the investment and in order to integrate with the environment, the designer controlled the total area of the building to 600m2, with a total of seven rooms.
As a superb homestay, the most important thing is to consider and meet the psychological “living” needs of the guests. To this end, the designer, the sponsor and the manager of the homestay made in-depth and detailed research, and found that the important reason why people are interested in living in a “homestay” is that it is the closest to nature and the daily life of Jiarong Tibetans. At the same time, it meets all the conveniences can be provided in urban life. They could live out all their fantasies of the plateau and the wilderness: fire pits (a kind of Chinese fireplace), private hot springs, bars, starry sky, snowy fields and undisturbed self-gazing...
Therefore, the designer brought all the attractions into the “DAINN • MT. Siguniang” project, so that the ideal and fairy tales of adults are well expressed, which cannot be achieved through design “discipline”, but through intuition, dreams and aspiration about the project.
The field enclosed by the four walls is like a container, which can narrow the psychological distance between strangers to the greatest extent, so that the life experience of people grown in different environments can be naturally and inadvertently revealed via behavior, conversation, etc., affecting and bathing the people close to it so as to enrich them with knowledgeable, courage and power.
Therefore, the designer set up a fire pit and a dinning hall on the first floor, and the bar on the third floor to facilitate the homogeneous distribution of guests. They, like a warm fire pit on a cold night and the seat ring with the folk meaning of repairing become places for gathering of different people. The elongated stairs lower the slope and allow people to have a leisurely stroll. The area of the building is felt enlarged, which is intimate and cozy. And the ascending stairs constitute dynamic lines that outline the spatial structure and allow the mind to drift upward.
The designer envisioned that all sides of the homestay should embrace the most beautiful scenery of MT. Siguniang: the forest and snow in winter, and the colorful forest in autumn, making it a “room to enjoy scenery”. For this purpose, the designer adopted the way of “window view” to “cut” the most desirable part of the external space into the room through the window, so that people inside can feel where they are and have a resonance in their hearts.
In the living room, the designer introduced furnace-heating into the living space, so that the living space is filled with warmth. At the same time, the firewood used for heating is neatly placed in the corner. Cabinet, which presents a dark brown with life experience, seats, huge French windows, clean and soft bedding, exquisite wood carving and self-created decoration on the wall, show the taste of the owner. We can imagine that the temporary owner of the room, taking a seat at the warm window, holds a book in his hands and enjoys the reading, or caresses wood carvings while thinking, with tea on the table bubbling... How cozy, tender and idle it is.
In “DAINN • MT. Siguniang”, the comfort and warmth we can feel are not only in visual, nor do we express metaphysical philosophical preaching. Everything is real from the deepest part of the heart. We can not only enjoy the beauty in the shower like early spring, but also experience the local tradition, which is firm but soft accumulations of life experience left by the long history!
