Ca S Alou is a single-family house on the island of Mallorca designed by Munarq. The project has a unique design inspired by Mediterranean nostalgia and a simple, minimalist design aesthetic. The earthy tones, undisturbed simplicity of the form, promote the occupants to feel relaxed and enhance the idyllic atmosphere of this magical countryside.

Is the name given to the blonde land on the island of Mallorca. It's a clayey, reddish soil, often mixed with gravel. It's a house designed from the materiality, to use the earth of the excavation to make the facades but also the materials of the structure such as the terracotta blocks or the interior painting that is made of earth.

The two volumes are symmetrical, reminiscent of Mallorca's typical old buildings known as Sestadors, used to house animals, cattle and sheep. Ca S Alou chose to design with some noble materials simply because they are natural rather than processed. They will calcify over time, be affected by the lichen, and the wood will return to its original color.

The approach to architecture traditional and knowledge of the place moves from the picturesque to the local, understood as affordable and known. Munarq do not use standardized materials, the house is unique at the time that everything is done here. Art and furniture is chosen by a filter of natural materials and local situations.
