Nebihe Cihan has completed a modern, permanent home in a luxury residential neighborhood in the Santa Monica Mountains, USA. Designed by the designer for a modern art collector, the design is inspired by the natural environment and aims to create a look that is both modern and timeless. The awe-inspiring entrance, which mirrors the hotel lobby, greets guests and guides them to the living room, opening panoramic views of the canyon, ocean, and city. The Annie Morris 8 Stack sculpture and The silver-plated brass neon of Vincenzo De Cotiis in The lobby welcome guests and set The scene.
Interior design and indoor and outdoor living complement each other, which is unique in California, emphasizing materials and nature. Wood, leather and natural stone take center stage, injecting timeless elegance into the interior. Neutral tones throughout the house provide continuity and enhance natural light, tonal variations and different textures distinguish each room. Unique elements inspire and excite, such as the Italian decor of Travertino Venatino in the living room fireplace. To achieve this effect, the pores of travertine are filled with black plaster and kept dry in the Italian quarries. This rare setting harmonizes with the simple lines of French furniture from Liaigre, which dominates the interior of the house and creates an "unfashionable style" look.
The surrealist black marble 'Sea Memory' bench, designed by Mathieu Lehanneur, adds an energy and movement that blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor. The bedroom was created in the style of the hotel suite, inspired by the client's extensive travel. Each bedroom is custom-designed by Studio Nebihe Cihan, a fine wood work produced in Italy that features custom carpets made in Nepal and incorporates different materials to explore textures and tones.
