Nina May collaboration with Sydney architects Bevan Boss Design has resulted in a grand family home with a refined loft aesthetic, inspired by the likes of American architect Anne Decker. Nina Maya Interiors is rooted in fashion design and embodies the iconic vision of art, lighting and textiles. In this Art House in Sydney, it has created a fascinating interior tone, which is fresh and eclectic, with style and "careful planning" Works of art" to complete contemporary aesthetics.
Generous in size, this Californian-style Sydney home welcomes guests with a dramatic entryway complete with a black double door. The garden features a 20-metre crescent pool and spiral marble stairs, surrounded by tropical greenery.
Nina Maya worked with Bevan Boss Design on the recurring circular motifs throughout the home. Curved marble stairs both inside and outside, and arched interiors contribute to the fluid layout that also deliberately keeps individual rooms separate. Crisp white walls, a nod to the original Mediterranean postmodern style, allow Nina Maya’s interior design choices to shine.
The Montenegro limestone floor is another feature which continues throughout the home. The grey limestone that runs throughout indoor and outdoor areas creates a seamless flow and a neutral palette on which to layer furnishings and art on top of. Marble lines the kitchen, complementary to the soft pink and gold hues in the fittings and furniture.Curvaceous furniture in the formal lounge, such as the Vladimir Kagan lounges with custom ball cushions upholstered in a grey boucle, and the cluster of gold Belt and Bongo tables by Meridiani add to the home’s refined circular theme. Nina Maya’s choice of artwork is playful and unique, seeking to flatter the furniture rather than overpower it.
