Philippe Austruy, a wealthy French winemaker, found himself wandering around the beautiful chateau on the Banks of the Durham river, one of Portugal's oldest wine regions. Philippe Austruy, a self-described hedonist and art lover, fell in love with vineyards. The project has all the elements of a classic French film.
Philippe Austruy invited Pierre Yovanovitch to design the project, which transforms a semi-abandoned Portuguese winery into an eclectic hotel with dramatic elements. Pierre Yovanovitch knows how to take a crumbling building and turn it into a relaxing resort for guests.
In fact, Pierre Yovanovitch has reconstructed all the main structures, transforming the 19th century house into eight bedrooms scattered among the different buildings. The room's simple furnishings and beautiful design are paired with local Portuguese tiles that effortlessly blend luxury and simplicity. The whole space is made in a style that combines nostalgia and a relaxed sense of mature pastoral atmosphere, and the interior is filled with an eclectic mix of antique furniture and objects designed by Pierre Yovanovitch.
