Mazul Beachfront Villas

Interiors Houses Mexico 2022-03-29

Mazul is a residential project with 50 beachfront villas on the coast in the community of Santa Elena El Tule, Oaxaca. The master plan is to develop on a three-hectare site with 50 lots of about 400 square metres. Each land has a villa with a building area of 125 square meters.

The architectural proposals include a clubhouse with swimming pool, terrace, restaurant, bar and beach club, as well as lush green areas and an operations and management area spread across the land. Each villa is designed to feel as if the indoor and outdoor Spaces are one. This space provides an area for shading, rest and lavatory, providing a unique experience of connection with nature.

The luxury of the project lies in the outdoor area and beautiful site. Following this approach, the basic design of the villa is: one bedroom, a full bathroom, a living room, a kitchen and a terrace, with a private swimming pool outside. The swimming pool is located at the front, with the aim of cooling the interior of the villa as the wind blows over it.

The design of the villa focuses on creating naturally ventilated and illuminated Spaces, all of which have openings to allow cross ventilation, ensuring internal comfort. The concept of the development and villa reflects a basic and simple lifestyle, with nothing extravagant or outlandish. Because contact and connection with nature is a real luxury, the building had to blend into the terrain in the most secluded way, while using low-cost materials to meet a limited budget.

At the same time, the villa must also be extremely resistant to the common climate, storms and hurricanes in the area it is located in, and be able to build quickly using the craftsmanship and common sense of the residents of the rural communities in the area. The site provided great inspiration for the design of the villa as well as the choice of building materials and finishes.

Revolution chose reinforced concrete load-bearing walls to blend in with the sand tones of the site. The other wall is made of brick and covered with local sand. Both walls are decorated in the same type of colour, but different materials are used to provide different textures, with some appearing purer and others rougher.

The design is basically three intersecting modules, public areas, semi-public areas and private areas. Each villa is carefully placed within its lot to provide privacy and so as not to block each other's views. Each lot has a perimeter barrier made up of natural plants that delineates the range of each lot and ensures the privacy of each villa.
