Venroy’s New Bondi Flagship Store
Set within the original Bondi Beach Post Office, Venroy’s new store is inspired by an Italian design icon, offering a minimalist backdrop for the brand’s elevated lifestyle collections. Created in partnership with Sarah l’Anson Design Office, the store design references the island of Capri, the Mediterranean touchstone that underlies all of Venroy founder Sean Venturi’s creations.
Inspired by the architecture of Casa Malaparte, the spectacular modernist Italian villa perched above the Faraglioni on the eastern side of Capri, the store interior has been designed according to rationalist principles, reduced to its essential elements and rendered in enduring materials such as limestone, cedar and plaster. These elemental materials combine with a soft, neutral palette to create a timeless backdrop for the shifting, seasonal hues of Venroy’s vacation-inspired collections.
Founded on the simple tenet of creating leisurewear to elevate everyday life, inspired by the places we love, Venroy anchors the space with a sense of ease, and an invitation to those who enter to fully immerse themselves. Tactile plaster walls and limestone flooring impart an alfresco sensibility to the space and are counterpoints to the custom Italian lighting grid crafted from raw stainless steel and frosted acrylic light boxes.
A series of constructivist-style bespoke furniture pieces have been created by Sarah l’Anson to complement the elemental interior finishes; crafted from Australian cedar, their linear forms in varying thicknesses slot together to form chairs, stools, a table and bench. Punctuating the calm neutrality of these natural materials are refined details and design accents such as a Vittorio Introini bookshelf, a custom-brushe.
Home to Venroy’s iconic lifestyle collections, from seasonal pieces and timeless classics to fragrance and accessories, the Venroy Bondi flagship is minimalist in its design, with clean lines and geometry shaping its interiors and forms. And like all Venroy stores, it evokes powerful connections to the worlds of travel and exploration.
