A Yoga studio in Vancouver, Canada, the Jaybird was designed by local interior Design studio Ste Marie Art and Design. Meditation Spaces throughout history have inspired the sensory and emotional qualities of materials -- emphasizing the connection between the external environment and the internal state.
The Jaybird is a room without any mirrors. It offers a relatively dark classroom and classes around music. For this reason, the designers have focused on tactile experiences, where people can think inward and only to themselves. The reuse of natural materials is also important. Recycled cork tiles became the basic building block, designed to evoke a temporary but atmospheric quality of the space.
