Austin Residence is a minimal home located in Austin, Texas, designed by Studio DuBois and Elizabeth Stanley Design. Constructed mainly of concrete, the building is set atop a gently sloping site with panoramic views of the city. Elizabeth Stanley led the interior design using a neutral palette, and combining pieces of vintage furniture with the client’s personal collection.
A large number of large glass windows are used indoors, making the outdoor natural landscape a large and fresh "mural". The natural green plants around the house are framed, adjacent to the dining area and private courtyard, living here is like being in nature. The light easily passes through the glass windows, illuminating the room completely, and the feeling of comfort and warmth is relaxing.
The unique ornaments of texture and shape enrich the layers in the space, and form a sharp contrast with the solid concrete wall, softening the harshness of the space. Light colors are selected for the bed, carpet, sofa and curtains in the bedroom, which brings a simple and fresh feeling. Large glass windows blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor.
