The feeling of looking at clothes varies from person to person. Some people regard clothes as "coverings" covering the body. Some people fill an entire room with clothes and just "collect" them, but don't wear them. For them, clothing is not only a functional element, but also a tool to express their individuality, a means to show off their social status and wealth. Design studio WGNB's Boon The Shop is designed around topics ranging from "Can't a clothing store be a gallery? This question starts.
The way space is built has a lifespan. The space should have some unique and exciting elements to catch the eye. That's why WGNB's lead designer Jongwhan Baek introduced two objects that are subtly different from space. Displayed in frames like works of art, stone slabs and maple trees add warmth to the seemingly icy space.
The combination of natural and artificial materials creates a sense of the supernatural. Something that shouldn't be there makes the space look better. The designer searched through thousands of stone slabs in the factory, one by one, and finally chose this one as his favorite. He found the beauty of nature that he could not create. It is, to borrow his phrase, a "painting of nature".
There is another element that expresses the atmosphere more deeply. This is the breakdown of the formula. Steel frames replace the hanging poles or pipes of ordinary clothing stores. When all the clothes and hangers were removed, it was not known whether the place was a clothing store or an art gallery. To emphasize the concept of the gallery, Jongwhan Baek boldly discarded the unnecessary, and the carefully crafted space looks colorful. Some of you might leave the store thinking, "Yes, fashion is art."
