Vanessa Hogge

ART Pottery London 2021-11-21

My mother, grandmother and great-grandmother are great gardeners. They have very beautiful gardens. I found that they really like flowers. It warms my heart, and I am doing this in different ways. The infinite patterns and possibilities of flowers stimulate my creativity.

Vanessa Hogge is a potter from London. She was born in Kenya in 1963 and grew up in South Africa. At the age of 17, she started contacting clay and studied at the Royal College of Art in London. After graduation, she became an interior designer. She started working full-time in pottery in 2015. Out of her passion for plants and the influence of Georgia O'Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, and Marian North, she started clay career characterized by flowers.

Vanessa Hogge's work have distinctive features, organic, gorgeous, natural and fashionable, and with spontaneous elements. She takes an instinctive approach to each piece of work, carving each petal by hand to ensure that no two flowers are the same.

Vanessa has not studied gardening without a learning system. Her feelings about the complexity of plant life are entirely based on her memory and imagination. In addition, she will often go to the garden to observe. She incorporates fashionable textile elements created in the 1970s, miniature paintings of Indian gardens, and Frida Kahlo's iconic flowers into her works. As an artist, the diversity of her forms and structures is endless.
