Yukie Satoh
For me, making art is like building blocks. I stack elements together and find a balance that makes me feel comfortable.
Yukie Satoh is a Japanese glass artist born in 1986. Her work has been exhibited in Japan and abroad, and she is one of the artists currently in the spotlight. Her beautiful figurative works are created through kiln-fabrication and the combination of various components. These works have a unique view of the world, as if cut from a quiet landscape, and every time you view them, you feel at home and rich in emotion. Special moments in everyday life.
For Yukie Satoh, making artwork is like building blocks. Like a child, without a specific shape in mind, Yukie Satoh piles elements together to find a balance that makes her feel comfortable. Glass, wood, stone, wire or nuts from the park. The resulting "stuff" gives Yukie Satoh new sensations and landscapes.
Following the poetic three-dimensional sculptures, Yukie Satoh also presents a series of sculptural vessels, including small cups, confectionery vessels, lids, saucers, flower vessels, etc., with a mineral-like texture that shines in the light, and an icy jade-like texture that relieves the heat of the early summer, and makes you imagine the exquisite scenery at the dinner table and at the tea ceremony.
