Hecker Guthrie Studios is a multidisciplinary design company headquartered in Melbourne. Based on the foundations and design principles that have been developed in practice over the past ten years, we aim to create a unique work for each project.
Hecker Guthrie was founded by designers Paul Hecker and Hamish Guthrie. The design of the studio was driven by the principles of authenticity, creativity and enthusiasm. This authenticity not only resonates with the design solution, but also resonates with the natural tone of the chosen material and the sharing of knowledge with craftsmen.
As the founding director of Hecker Guthrie, Hamish Guthrie is often considered to be the taller and quieter of the two. His calm behavior helped to adopt thoughtful design methods, which resulted in a series of well-publicized and award-winning projects in the hotel, retail, commercial and residential sectors. Paul Hecker is one of the founding directors of Hecker Guthrie. His enthusiasm for design and the way people interact with interior space have only been strengthened in his industry for more than 20 years. Paul is not only a designer but also a critic of life, fashion, politics and film.
Paul Hecker and Hamish Guthrie have considerable respect and admiration for each other's working methods, each using their expertise in integrating interior design, architecture, objects, and gardens. Hecker Guthrie understands the deep relationship between all these disciplines in creating cohesion, honesty and real space.
