KAAN Architecten

Great buildings that move the spirit have always been rare. In every case they are unique, poetic, products of the heart.

KAAN Architecten is a Rotterdam, Sao Paulo and Paris based architectural firm operating globally and merging practical and academic expertise within the fields of architecture, urbanism and research on the built environment. Led by Kees Kaan, Vincent Panhuysen and Dikkie Scipio, the studio consists of an international team of architects, landscape architects, urban planners, engineers, and graphic designers. KAAN Architecten believes in cross-pollination between projects and disciplines as an essential tool to fostering a critical debate within the firm.

KAAN Architecten’s projects transcend the traditional notions of scale and typology, ranging from furniture and interiors to urban development and from retail and offices to museums and buildings for health and education. The firm has expanded its international presence through these two offices in Sao Paulo and Paris, benefiting from the important geographical location in Brazil's important special economic zone and the famous fashion capital of France.

The firm maintains their strong working attitude and sharp architectural philosophy, firmly believing that the original architecture is worth preserving, translating it into contemporary architecture through the hands of the architects, allowing a more inclusive mindset to accommodate everything, which is behind their principle of respect and admiration for architecture.
