Scott Mitchell Studio

Buildings with a refined sense of order, scale and materiality that create space beyond utility and style.

Scott Mitchell Studio is a Los Angeles and Seattle-based architecture firm founded in 1999 by Scott Mitchell.     The studio has completed a series of private homes, often inspired by the clean modernism of respected architects such as Richard Meier, Charles Gwathmey, Louis I. Kahn and Rudolph M. Schindler.     Mitchell is also recognized as the designer of the iconic restaurant Nobu Malibu.

Mitchell's practice is characterized by a unique use of light and materials, with tactile textures and concrete and natural materials placed together on center stage. His refined use of board-formed concrete has influenced a generation of architects in Southern California and beyond. Scott Mitchell's work effortlessly balances modernist architecture with comfortable, subtle luxury. This strong and unified aesthetic which also draws on the surrounding environment has become the signature of the studio.
