Studio Gimgeosil is an interior design studio based in Seoul, South Korea. They use different design methods to intervene in the project, while reflecting the value of the space, enhance the sensory experience and make it have lasting vitality, so as to create a unique identity for each space, with a unique aesthetic and appropriate solutions to meet the objective needs of various customers.
Studio Gimgeosil was named after its founder's attention to the German emphasis on living rooms and balconies while living in Berlin. They considered the living room to be the center of the house, a resting place and a multifunctional space, as well as an expression of the owner's interests and personality. So the founders of Studio Gimgeosil used this as inspiration to create their studio, which translates as "living room" in Korean, with his last name attached.
The studio is committed to reawakening a space that has a "dull feel" and believes that it is most realistic to create places that have a lasting life. Therefore, it is indispensable to define the personality and the content to be conveyed, among which, it is more important to provide design solutions and physical coordination and unity.
When it comes to the community character of the space or the styling part of the space, Studio Gimgeosil avoids one-off work, which is why they rarely do pop-up architecture or set design. They always believe that the real value of a space is that it can radiate vitality in a variety of ways over a long period of time and has heritage.
