K-Studio is a Greek architecture practice whose design philosophy is rooted in tradition, enriched through materiality, and inspired by contemporary life. Committed to creating unique architectural experiences, the studio consistently seeks harmony with natural elements, crafting comfortable spaces that embody a sense of organic luxury.
During an October masterclass, Creative Director Marianna Stavridou guided us through the studio’s design world—deeply informed by Greek culture. Through several signature projects, she illustrated K-Studio’s design approach: At Villa Madra, architectural volumes blend softly into the island’s topography. The house is conceived around emotional experience, where each space becomes an opportunity for rest, reflection, and discovery—encouraging meaningful connection with family and friends, and the freedom to live quietly within nature. The Dexamenes Hotel in the Peloponnese transforms a disused winery into a boutique hotel. The new design balances the structure’s raw quality with elegant touches, turning formerly utilitarian spaces into places of calm, comfort, and relaxation. Kálesma Hotel merges modernism with local tradition, conceived as a traditional “Mykonian village” based on the idea of a family home. It offers a relaxed island-living experience, evoking the intimate feel of village life.
K-Studio excels at shaping narrative within constraints—whether the LIKNON Winery on Samos, subtly embedded into vineyard terraces, or the Mykonos Airport façade, inspired by the island’s white, rounded architecture and reimagined with the artistic concept of a “homecoming bird’s nest.” Each project demonstrates the studio’s ability to interpret and integrate local character.
Beyond the session, participants experienced K-Studio’s studio culture and collaborative ethos. In doing so, we came to better understand the practice’s insistence on holistic design. By employing a context-driven approach, maintaining unified expression across architecture, landscape, and interiors, and collaborating closely with local artisans, K-Studio creates uniquely immersive spaces where local culture resonates deeply with contemporary life.
